UIA Newsletter - August 2014 - Editorial

Dear colleagues,
 

I am glad to be able to present the second issue of our newsletter to you. I have received a few comments on the first issue, almost all positive. Nevertheless, I urge everybody to provide their input, so that we can constantly improve this form of communication.

I would also like to repeat the request that you further distribute the newsletter to interested parties - colleagues and Bar Associations - who you think might be interested. The newsletter should reflect our ability to provide a constant flow of information on the profession and the concerns we have, with all the regional differences that necessarily occur.
 

We intend to add an additional chapter for the next issue giving Bar Associations which are members of UIA the opportunity to present their point of view, either with respect to their institution or on any specific subject which they wish to discuss. Again, please feel free to contact me with any ideas you may have in your respective country, where, for example, such information seems useful. Right now I can think of our colleagues in Turkey, specifically at the Istanbul Bar, and about the legal situation that they have experienced over the last months, but other current developments may be of interest.
