UIA Newsletter - May, 2014 - Editorial

Dear colleagues,

Ladies and gentlemen,

The objective of the UIA newsletter is to be a source of information for all who are interested in the legal profession.

We want to provide a platform where all those concerned can obtain a frequent flow of information on our profession - both its current status and developments. We want to reflect the perspectives of colleagues from all over the world, on the legal issues which affect their businesses as well as developments in individual countries which affect our profession.

In general, we will concentrate on the following issues:

-  Defense of the defense - UIA activities on behalf of lawyers who are threatened by the legal system and whose independence in practicing may not be safe anymore.

-  Activities at the UN reflecting on all those different projects where the UIA is involved in global legal themes.

-  Development of our profession, both regarding the organization and management of a law firm and the various different aspects of practicing law on the other hand.

-  Information from various countries which reflect the position of lawyers in those countries.

-  Activities of the UIA in general and, in particular, its president.

We are looking forward to receiving your input, both positive and negative, and shall try to pick up on any ideas and suggestions that we consider worthwhile for everybody.
