UIA President elected as President of the French CNB

Jean-Marie Burguburu, UIA President, was elected President of the French National Bar Council (CNB – Conseil national des barreaux de France) on 6 September by 65 votes out of a total of 82. The National Bar Council is an establishment of public interest whose primary mission is representing the legal profession before the authorities.

Jean-Marie Burguburu succeeds Christian Charrière-Bournazel, who had given up the post in mid-July following a disagreement with the CNB Bureau on reforms in the legal profession’s governance.

“Calming things down, bringing people together, working and rebuilding” to develop the organisation representing the profession in France – those are the objectives the President has set himself, having formerly occupied the post of Paris Bar President.
A vast programme for the future, but Jean-Marie Burguburu, who will be heading UIA until end October 2013, affirmed to all the members, “I remain the President of our great association and testify to my assurance of my total dedication until the end of my term, at the conclusion of the Macao Congress.”
