UIA President’s visit to Algiers

The UIA President, Bar President Jean-Marie Burguburu, visited Algeria at the invitation of the National Committee on February 28 and March 1.

Accompanied by Mr. Hervé Chemouli, UIA Financial Director, the President received a warm welcome in Algiers from Messrs. Sadek Chaïb and Ridha Saïm, President of the National Committee and Co-director of national and regional activities respectively.

More than a hundred lawyers – members and non-members of the association – participated in an enthusiastic discussion at the Bar Council on the perspectives of UIA’s development in Algeria. The Algiers Bar President Abdelmadjid Sellini acclaimed the role played by UIA in providing professional training to lawyers and Bar President Burguburu commended the dynamism of Algerian lawyers who have been joining the association in large numbers. In addition, he invited them to Macau (China) from October 31 to November 4 to participate to its 57thCongress.

In the evening, a friendly dinner brought the leadership of the Algerian Bar together with President Burguburu, with the former underlining the quality of relations with UIA and their usefulness in enabling Algerian lawyers to meet their colleagues from across the world.

There will soon be such opportunity when UIA returns to Algeria for a seminar on foreign investment in the city of Tlemcen on April 26 and 27, 2013.
